What’s your obsession?  Is it a food, a game, an activity?  Our obsessions change over time.  What we obsess about now is different than what we obsessed about as a teenager.  Document an obsession, old or new.  Here I’ve documented my obsession with getting healthy.  After years of trying, I finally found that weight training is the key to getting lean, strong, and healthy.

This year I made the commitment to get healthy. But unlike my previous attempts, I focused more on my type of workouts and not just restricting calories. I added weight training to my workout routine. The results have been amazing. I haven’t just lost weight; I’m reshaping my body. I love the definition and the strength, and as I progress I find it isn’t a “have to” anymore, it’s a “want to.” To become strong, lean and healthy…is my obsession. ~ 2008

As scrapbookers we work hard to capture special memories.  Opening gifts on Christmas morning, fireworks on the 4th of July, birthdays, graduations, and anniversaries are covered in great detail.  But all too often we forget to capture those everyday memories.  We’re so busy snapping photos of others we’re often “absent” from our family memories.  Christmas morning may be covered, but we never document that favorite ornament that always has a prime spot on the tree.  Birthday parties have pictures of cakes with candles, but we forget to share that story about the teddy bear that became more than a gift, it became a child’s best friend.  We capture the big events, but forget but forget the small, everyday details.

Featured layouts using the Ambrosia line by BasicGrey:

The Ambrosia collection by BasicGrey has a “citrus” taste “that’s injected with a zesty finish.”  This line “blends delicate details with splashes of blazing red, orange and gold.”  It’s a perfect combination for those wanting “graceful and bold.”

Yay!! I’ve made it to round 3 of Scrapbook Dreamer’s “Dream You Are a ScrapStar!” This is a 5-week elimination contest. The winner receives a Crop in Style Studio Collection Rolling Craft Tote; how cool is that??  I’ve always wanted to participate in an elimination contest to challenge myself each week to create a new layout following the guidelines presented, but my schedule usually conflicted with the contest schedule.  I’m really glad I’ve been able to participate in Scrapbook Dreamer’s contest, it’s been a lot of fun.  Below are my first 2 entries.

In the first one, “Little Girls’ Dreams” we had to use 5 items from a list provided and the word “Dream” in the title. The items I chose were: BasicGrey, Ink distressing (around edges and on creases), Rub-ons, Glimmer Mist on chipboard, and Shapes (circle, swirls, diamonds).  The quote/title is a transparency from Autumn Leaves.  I really love how the colors turned out on this layout.  Not only do they match the photo, they have a real “dreamy” feel.  Any guess on who the little girl is??  Yes, that’s me … just a few years ago 😉

For the 2nd challenge there were different items to choose from.  Again we had to use at least 5 items and complete a Book of Me layout with our bucket list and a photo of us. The items I selected were: Making Memories patterned papers, chipboard, swirls/flourishes, black & white photo, blue, and handwritten journaling.  Once again I love the colors of the layout but I’m not too thrilled with the title. I think “My final List” sounds weird. I think I should have used something like “Before I’m gone.” My journaling could have been a little better too.  It sounds like I already lived my life, but in reality there is so much more I want and plan to do.  Anyway it was a great challenge and I’ve learned some things I can improve on next time.

The next challenge is up and I’m already planning my layout in my head. Wish me luck in round 3.

“Refresh your imagination” is Doodlebug’s motto, and with their newest products: Crushed Velvet cardstock, Sugar Coating cardstock, Crushed Velvet flock and Sugar Coating glitter, they make it easy to unleash your creativity and spark your imagination.  This week several members of the Creative Team from A Cherry on Top revealed projects using these new products from Doodlebug.  Below are my projects for this reveal.  I loved working with the glitter and flock products; they really added some dimension and pizzazz to my layouts.  Both my layouts featured some beautiful girls playing in water to cool down from the summer heat.  I thought the Sugar Coating cardstock added a nice touch and helped carry the water theme with the shimmer and sparkle.  You can see all the CT projects using the Doodlebug flock and sugar coating products in our reveal article here.  And if you’re looking for your own Doodlebug products, check out the store at A Cherry on Top; they have a huge selection of Doodlebug and they’re having a sale this week of 15% off Doodlebug’s Crushed Velvet products.

Wow, where has the time gone?? This summer is just flying by. I know I’ve been missing in action since May, sorry about that… I plan on getting back into my groove now. With a small vacation in May and our big East Coast vacation in June, I’ve gotten behind. I have layouts, new product previews and more to share with you; so stay tuned.

We had a big Design Team reveal this week at A Cherry on Top. We all got to use some amazing stamps from Inque Boutique.  Here are my creations:

For this layout I used the Savior Faire: Wish List Mini Stamp set. This set is great for your journaling. You can make lists, show steps or just highlight a few notes.
My other creation was this card:
For the groovy flower, I stamped the paisley design on a transparency, cut out each piece, and then layered it on patterned paper to form the flower. I attached each piece with a glue dot, which gave the flower some dimension. The card actually opens right below the scallop.  Here’s a look at the “Perfectly Paisley” stamp set I used for the card:
Besides all the great paisley designs, you get some sayings, flowers and a few doodles. It’s a perfect set for card making.  Check out all the Inque Boutique projects from the A Cherry on Top Design Team reveal in the latest newsletter.

That’s all for now; but be watching for some Bisous news and a link to their upcoming fall releases! You’re gonna love the new lines.

NSD Creations

Sorry I’m so late posting my creations from National Scrapbook Day.  Time has just been flying by and I never seem to have enough time to do everything I have planned.  Here are some of the things I made on National Scrapbooking Day.  On the first three layouts I used Bisous papers and chipboard.  “Family” uses the PDQ Apple Album Kit.  For my “Nature” layout I used the PDQ Violet Album Kit.  Just look at those gorgeous greens and violets/purples.  This is one of my favorite kits.  The last Bisous layout, “Me & You forever” uses the PDQ Regal Album Kit.  The photo of Bryan and I was taken on our last cruise to the Caribbean.

I completed two other layouts and two cards as well.  I really like how the cards came out.  I’m not sure if owls are still “in” but I love the one I found on a Hambly transparency.

 Oh the places you'll go

Life is good

Birthday Wish card

Guess Who card

Thanks for looking.  Have a great weekend.
